SOCSoter

Making the complex feel clear and the technical feel trustworthy.

Cybersecurity is a subject most people find intimidating — full of technical language designed for engineers, not the business owners and IT teams who actually need to understand what they are buying and why it matters. SOCSoter, a managed cybersecurity software company offering dual-layer endpoint protection and intelligent threat detection, had a product worth believing in. What they needed was a brand and a web presence that made non-technical enterprise buyers feel that immediately.

The brief was simple to state and harder to execute. Make the complicated feel clear and the technical feel trustworthy. Make something genuinely sophisticated feel approachable without dumbing it down. Every page had to function like a great salesperson — walking the visitor through the software deliberately, answering the right questions in the right order, and building confidence at every scroll. The user experience had to be airtight. There was no room for a confused visitor to wander off the path.

My work spanned a full refresh — including an extended color palette system, custom iconography, and original dashboard illustrations — through lo-fi wireframing, hi-fi design, developer handoff, and QA review. Every decision was made with one question in mind: does this help someone who is not a security expert understand what SOCSoter does and why they should trust it?

Note: The live site has evolved since my engagement as it has passed through other design hands. The work shown here represents my original design direction. Additional samples are available on request.

Brand Refresh & Custom Illustration

Most cybersecurity companies live in the same sea of navy and gray. They blend together with a visual language that often feels cold and robotic. SOCSoter was no different — and ready for something better.  I extended their color palette into a full system built to stand out with a visual energy that signals confidence and approachability. then developed a custom icon set and original dashboard illustrations designed to walk enterprise buyers through how the software actually works — turning invisible background processes into clear, legible visual stories.

Wireframing & Prototyping

With the brand foundation in place, I mapped the full site architecture from lo-fi through hi-fi — structuring each page around the questions a prospective buyer would actually be asking at that moment in their decision journey. Lo-fi wireframes were developed collaboratively with the client before any visual design was applied, hi-fi designs were handed off directly to the developer with full component documentation, and I conducted QA review on the beta site to ensure the built experience matched the approved designs in both appearance and functionality.
